32

It started off slow. You choose - that is how it should be.I should not be selecting. We were the only customers @ Megamart around 9 PM yesterday evening as my wife was buying me my birthday dress. After a snag of 40-45 minutes of slow repeated circles around the shop,  momentum picked up in leaps and bounds as I tried on a green formal shirt and a black corduroy pants.Need to go home quickly as my parents would be waiting for dinner.
Need to buy a cake too.Not many shops open as the clothe shopping ate away the working hours of all bakeries around. Finally we chanced on the shutter closing of one bakery where we rushed in and bought one pineapple cake.
Albeit it was a buy 3-get 4 offer, I dont remember ever getting a whopping 7 pieces of clothing out of the blue in an hours' time.Even for my marriage, I had taken 3 sets or so!.If we invite Sherlock, he might be able to find some 'draws' in say the new uniform sets at the beginning of a new school year.
It was embarassing to get into the house - this does not happen even in Hindi movies!Well to justify myself, I was running short of trousers and three of the remaining ones were of the same color.
We cut the cake at night, Muthu dangerously swirling the knife around.

On the birthday , watched 'ThoovanathumbikaL' yet another time to add to the celebration.Felt nostalgic and very emotional. As tears streamed down my cheeks due to my undue attachment to the characters in the movie, I struggled at points where there was nothing on the screen to justify myself if someone should ask me.For e.g., when the song 'Onnaam raagam paadi' was being played, I was still all tears jerked by some earlier scene.I felt like the Brendon Fraser in 'George of the jungle' where in one scene, he looks at the sunset and says ' Look .. the sun is setting..' and cries. At this moment , I am reminded of the great words that Binoy Balan had once shared. " For me, if a movie shakes me emotionally , it is a worthwhile movie".He was contradicting against the movie experience that leaves the viewer with joy.And I experienced this today morning and agreed completely.
Unfortunately, today I got a little annoyed at my flat's CRM team who were supposed to be working on the minor modifications in my flat when they asked me for the flat key so that they could start the work. The explanation that came out was that 'they thought that the flat number was 3016 and not 4016'.Wonder whether they addressed the 4016' issues in 3016.
Facebook had brought notice of my birthday to the office folks and I treated them with Choco pies available at our 'Juice Junction' stall.
Back home , mumma's special 'Paal paayasam' that took me back to the kitchen of the school days' home. As the clock strikes 12 PM marking the end of my birthday , I close this diary note ..
